Work is underway on the Halifax monument!

Last week the propeller, which has been sitting in the shed at Guus for almost two years, was picked up by his brother Hans. The first phase of the construction of the Halifax monument has arrived. Hans is now working in his workshop to make the necessary preparations for pouring the concrete of the base.

A concrete base will be placed in the formwork and this will be covered with red bricks. An original propeller, which came from a Halifax bomber, on top of that. This is fixed in the base with a steel tube. A technical challenge, but that is up to Hans. The Kroonwerk company has faced tougher challenges!

A plaque with the names of the crew members and a short description will be placed on the base. The plaque was already revealed on 1 May 2018 on the fence of the Slothoeve farm, where the aircraft crashed. it was unveiled 75 years after the crash.

If all goes well, the monument will be unveiled on Friday afternoon, May 1 2020 at 4 p.m. 75 years after the war, by our mayor Han Ter Heegde along the Zuidpolderweg, in memory of the seven crew members who died on May 1, 1943 in the Noordpolder.

You can support the realization of the monument by transferring a donation to the account of the Halifax Monument Muiden Foundation; NL05 RABO 0348 6669 50

Many thanks in advance!
